LEGOs For Your Littlest Ones- LEGO Duplo!

Kids love LEGOs, and I really wanted our little guy to have fun with them. LEGO products are great for inspiring creativity in children, learning some basic developmental concepts, and the things that can be built with them are endless. The problem is they are so tiny that I worried he'd swallow or choke on them, plus they were a bit too small for his little hands, even though he's pretty good at manipulating small objects.
Lucily, I recently learned about and had the opportunity to review LEGO Duplo- larger LEGO's for smaller hands! We had the opportunity to review the Play with Numbers Duplo Bricks (pictured above), which are not only larger than the traditional LEGO bricks, but feature some fun characters, and bricks with numbers and graphics to help teach wee ones to count. There are lots of fun activies we can do with these- we can teach our son to count, we can teach him words like dog and tree and tractor, we can tell stories about what we create.

If you previously thought your littlest kids couldn't have fun with LEGOs, now they can be included. Our little guy amazes us when he puts pieces together, so exposing him to toys that require thinking and some advanced skills are helping him to develop way faster than we ever expected.

If you have older children, especially boys, they are probably already fans of LEGO, which are available in special edition sets, tubs with hundreds of pieces, etc so that pretty much anything can be built. I recently visited the LEGO store, because we plan to build on our son's new interest, and the characters, scenery, vehicles created from thousands of pieces baffles the mind. Obviously our son isn't creating objects yet (he didn't put together the tractor in this set) but he is putting the pieces together and proudly showing us his mini-creations, so is on his way to bigger and better.
