Big Idea Presents Veggie Tales: It's a Meaningful Life! ~Review

One of the best ever holiday movies is "It's a Wonderful Life", about the value of one man in the world- a man who feels rather worthless and unsuccessful. Veggie Tales took this wonderful Frank Capra story and created It's a Meaningful Life- a Lesson in Being Content, an animated version for children, with a twist. Big Idea makes terrific Veggie Tales movies of classic stories and themes, and they keep getting better and better.

It's a Meaningful Life answers the big question: "What if?"- the theme of being content with the blessings you are fortunate to have in life, rather than ponder endlessly on the "what ifs" of the past. Unlike the original, which shows us what happens if one man was never born, It's a Meaningful Life answer what happens if a man gets everything he thinks he wanted- basically, if he took a left turn at the fork in the road, instead of a right. Larry the Cucumber is Stewart, a man who feels like he lost all his dreams when an injury prevents him from having all the fame and fortune that comes with being a football great. A mysterious train conductor gives him the opportunity to see what life would have been like if he was never injured, and became a "success".
Unlike other Veggie Tales dvds which feature two shorter stories with a silly song in between, VeggieTales: It's a Meaningful Life is one longer (50 minutes) animated feature film with the trademark silly song as an intermission. This is a great holiday gift for a child, and if you haven't watched Veggie Tales before, this is a great dvd to start your collection with. It's available on Amazon for only $10.49 (today) and ships free with order over $25. We love Veggie Tales in this house, and especially love this newest dvd.
