Wii Swords~ Review

The Wii is an awesome gaming system that is motion-controlled, getting people everywhere up and moving. There have been many fun games made for the Wii, and recently, Majesco Entertainment released an all-new game, Swords, that allows players to spar against master swordsmen throughout history.

In Swords, you travel through time to compete in sword fighting challenges, facing progressively more difficult tasks to become the greastet swordsman of all time.

As you progress, you win different swords which have different abilities. There are a variety of possible fencing techniques, and the player learns to move their sword to make the proper attacks and blocks, starting in the training dojo at the beginning of the game.

Swords allows you to play with a friend as well, either training together in drills or competing against eachother. Throughout the game, there are opportunities in between fights to practice further and learn combination techniques to improve their skills. This game definitely gets you moving, and while it took a bit of getting used to at first, we ended up having a very good time.  Players need to calibrate the sword before each challenge and learn the proper swings for the Wii Motion Plus to acknowledge that you are fighting properly. My husband got much farther than I did- he is a champ at these games, and I sort of waffled around the beginning, having fun practicing techniques and passing most of my time there. Overall, however, we both really enjoyed it and can see it being a hit with teens as well. Swords is available on Amazon with free shipping, and would be a great gift for the Wii enthusiasts in your life.
