Gift Ideas For New Dads!

Looking for some gift ideas for a new dad, or someone about to become one? My brother is going to become a father for the first time, and needless to say, it is a time that is both exciting and a little scary for many men. Here are some great ideas for these men:
Dads Adventure offers DVDs and books that offer a crash course for new dads. These books are filled with relevant, incredibly useful information, and don't let the funny fool you- these are seriously helpful books!

Hit the Ground Crawling combines the advice of over 150,000 men on topics such as getting your home ready for a new baby, helping your wife through the baby's birth, how to burp and diaper a baby, how to help and care for the new mom, and reigniting romance once life with baby settles in. The information is from men, for men, so it's straightforward and to the point (the way men like it). There are quotations from other men who have been there, and even though it's for men, I enjoyed reading it (and seeing how dedicated men are to being good dads- it's a wonderful thing!). My personal favorite sections advised men on how to be good dads, how to bond with their baby, and how to help their wife during the pregnancy and as she adjusts to being a new mom. There is an emphasis on finding constructive solutions and being helpful and understanding.

Crash Course for New Dads, a second book offered by Dads Adventure (the books can be bought as a set, and there is a DVD available too to show dad how things are done) is incredibly useful. It's simple and packed full of information men really use, such as how to stop a baby from crying, a man's role in caring for a child, how to balance work and family, and much more. It provides lists, cheat sheets, and charts as well, and while it's aimed at men, it may become indispensable to a new mom too. There is even a section about postpartum depression and how new dad can help. Crash Course for New Dads is a quick read and is set up like a workbook to get dad ready in no time. Dads Adventure also offers coaching for new dads who want more help, so if you have a new dad on your shopping list, visit DadsAdventure.com.
He's not a dad yet, but expecting? Good Things To Know (they offer mini-books on a host of topics) has the essential guide for future dads: 30 Things Future Dads Should Know About Pregnancy. Think pregnancy is hard on women? Men are probably never more confused or awed by their wife then during this time, from mood changes to the nesting instinct, and this book will help dad-to-be know what to expect and keep things running smoothly while waiting for baby to arrive.

Some great tips from this book include dealing with changing friendships (not many friends like losing a man to his new priorities) and how to deal with a pregnancy that doesn't end with a baby (hard to read, but important). There are chapters on how to handle finances, setting up boundaries to protect your new family, and helping your wife accept a dad's perspective, because a child needs a loving and involved mom and dad.
