Great Children's Music DVD!

I tend to watch kids' DVD's as an adult, and judge them as an adult. For this reason, I didn't think I would find "Let's Hear It For The Laurie Berkner Band!" very enjoyable. It's a real (not animated) grown woman playing music for kids. Didn't seem thrilling to me. Well, obviously I need to adjust what makes for good entertainment, because my son loves this DVD.

Laurie Berkner is the guitar strumming, jingle singing star of this very fun musical DVD featuring over 40 minutes of interactive songs (and a bunch of cute tots jumping around to encourage your own child to follow suit). My son was mesmerized by the music and the hopping, and bounced up and down himself along with it all. In my little mind, a DVD that wasn't animated was ridiculous for a child. Clearly, Laurie Berkner knows how to make kids happy and she certainly did!

This DVD will be available starting September 28, but it can be pre-ordered on Amazon at a reduced rate. If you have little ones, they will love this DVD. Our favorite song was "My Energy" (very catchy tune) but really, we liked many of them. The songs have messages (such as "I'm Not Perfect") or else encourage your kids to move and jump around. I understand now why Laurie is called the "Pied Piper of preschool".

Laurie Berkner performs across the US at various venues, and you can find out more about her  and her band at www.laurieberkner.com (and maybe catch a show). If you can see her in person, consider buying this great DVD for your kids. In addition to being fun and attention-holding, it has the great feature that I found all Nickelodeon DVD's have- it automatically starts again when it's over in the absence of anyone stopping and ejecting it, so your child gets caught up in the fun all over again.

  1. My children always enjoy her clips on TV. She's real, not animated, but she's also looking straight at them and singing to them, getting them to participate. They love that because it's more interactive I think. And her songs are really fun and catchy.
