Planning For 2011- Organizers and Calendars

If you're a To Do list kind of gal like me, if you live by planners, or if you just want to be a more organized person, then you know the importance of a good planner and calendar. I generally have a planner that I carry around in my purse, a wall calendar, and a pad where I write a detailed list of that day's things To Do. I recently had the chance to review a terrific all-in-one wall organizer for moms/family from Andrews McMeel Publishing:

Mary Engelbreit Moms Can Do Anything: 2011 Weekly Wall Calendar/Organizer is divided into 12 monthly pages and 54 weekly pages. It contains a reversible pocket, lots of space to write in notes (more than a typical wall calendar), and multiple columns for each member of the family. It's a family wall calendar that organizes the schedule of everyone in the family in one place, so parents and kids always know where everyone is at a glance. It's attractive and colorful and you'll find weekly inspirational quotes or humorous tips for mom such as "A loving heart is the truest wisdom" and "Cherish all your happy moments, they make a great cushion for old age". There is also a column for special events, birthdays, etc so the Moms Can Do Anything Organizer really keeps it all together for you, in great mom style, and it's available on Amazon for less than $11.

Another  2011 calendar from Andrews McMeel is the Rachael Hale Baby Love: 2011 Wall Calendar, a cute wall calendar of adorable babies, very sweet (Anne Geddes fans will love this). Each month features a little cutie in a whimsical fashion:

For those who'd like a smaller monthly calendar, a mini-calendar of equally adorable babies which can be put on the wall or placed on a desk is the Rachael Hale B.F.F. Best Friends Forever: 2011 Mini Wall Calendar:

The pictures inside are *cute*, of little munchkins each month looking utterly snuggable. The chubby cover baby is just an example (I love chubby babies!).

If you like day-to-day calendars which welcome you with something new daily, a great one for moms is the "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff...and it's all small stuff: 2011 Day-to-Day Calendar for your desk. It is based on the best-selling book of the same name by Richard Carlson. It offers daily tips and advice for living a better, happier that are so simple and basic, yet will help ground you when you feel overwhelmed, because we all tend to forget these basic concepts that help us focus on the important things.

I'm one of those people who also reads ahead, because I just love books that remind us to focus on the right things in life, and the daily thoughts from this calendar are great. A few, to give you an idea of what to expect, include how to pick your battles wisely, and the importance of making sure you keep your promises (and of course, the whys and the hows to do all these things). Starting your day with a page out of that book is a great way to keep things in perspective and stay focused.

All these family calendars and organizers are available on Amazon for great prices, and will help you be more organized in 2011. If one of your goals is to be more organized, a tip is to buy your planner ahead of time so you don't feel rushed to put in all those important dates and events at the last minute, possibly forgetting to do so altogether. It will also help you start to plan your 2011 vacations and holidays.

  1. I have one of those Mary Engelbreit Calendars for 2010 and it's great. It makes organizing activities a breeze for families. We usually purchase calendars for Christmas Gifts so I guess I should start looking at them now!
