Great Moments I Didn't Get On Camera

Little man is doing amazing things daily, and I never seem able to catch them on film or video. Yesterday he, for the first time, raised himself on both him arms and knees for a few short moments, and repeatedly, but never long enough for me to catch it on camera (the photo above is of him in between...he was teasing me "Ha ha, lets see if you can catch me!"). He also clapped his hands for the first time (two short claps, in response to me clapping my hands to entertain him with the noise), as well as a dozen other new, sweetly adorable things he does each week.

One time I managed to catch him, with my camera phone, smile while sleeping, which was a miracle because he smiles for a second, stops for while, smiles and laughs for a second, and stops for a while again. It was one of the few moments I managed to catch on camera. It doesn't help that he notices when the camera is on him.

I also didn't catch the time he first sat up, and first stood up (while holding on to my fingers of course), or the time it sounded like he maybe, kind of, sort of said "mama", or "I" (or maybe it was "eye"), or "hi"...he's talking and I can't even prove it!

Our new plan is to get a video camera, set it down some distance away while pointed at him, and let him do all his cute things without realizing we are finally catching them. We may have to tape him for a long time (and he's pretty smart, so we'll probably have to hide the video camera under a toy or onesie, because he knows when he's being taped), but if we catch some of those moments it will be worth it. Then again, just taping him smile and laugh and be happy will be worth it too.

  2. He is so cute!! I need a new camera too. We use a waterproof Canon that is great for vacations, but lousy for daily use.

  6. Aw! That's a good idea to leave a video camera running. They always do the cutest things when we're not expecting it or ready with a camera in our hands! They grow up soo fast so good for you for trying to document as much as possible!
