Post-Baby Touch Ups

Nine months of pregnancy and three months of breast-feeding has resulted in some, um, skin alterations. My skin doesn't look exactly as it used to. In addition to needing to tighten up my abs and figuring out how to fade my souvenir linea nigra, I discovered some broken blood vessels in my legs, and more recently, some on my breasts. Luckily, today these can be treated by dermatologists and lasers, like Celibre, a dermatologist company, that offers many treatments, such as tattoo removal, in Los Angeles (their web-site gives great info on some various treatments).

I've been researching how to treat different skin problems, and am astounded by how improved dermatological treatments are today. I've had laser hair removal at a dermatologists office a few years ago, and I never have to shave again as a result, so I know dermatology today is amazing, but did you know that dermatologists can perform removal of birth marks and large skin discolorations, improve wrinkles and acne, and more, all with just lasers? I recall asking about the removal of a teeny spider vein about ten years ago from a dermatologist, and her recommendation was either an injection with a saline solution, or use of an electric needle (sounded painful, and she said it would leave a scar)...dermatology has come a long way.

I'd like to get these treatments as soon as possible, before I'm pregnant again, sort of a stitch in time saves nine thinking (it will probably be harder to treat lots and lots of broken blood vessels later on, so I'd like to take care of those I have now, and worry about new ones when I get them). I've also toyed with the idea of getting botox (I wouldn't say never), but not quite yet!

  1. I toy with the idea of Botox too...Maybe in a few years when I really, really need it, i'll get it! My sis in law gets it and she looks amazing!

  3. such Mommy marks we all must take on as we bar children. I too have seen so many skin alterations with having children. I'm so glad that part of my life is over, but I'd love to find solutions that will work to give me back that young looking skin and body I once new.
Spider veins the older I get the more prominent they seem to get. I feel like I'm getting my grandmothers legs. Oh no!

  4. Wow, dermatology has come a long way. I didn't realize it could fix all those issues. I have some post pregnancy skin issues but thought I had to live with them. Guess not.
