Moby Wrap Baby Carrier- Review

Moby Wrap logo
Moby Wraps were created by two moms in search of the perfect baby carrier. The Moby Wrap is a variation of a time-tested European carrier and is a 100% cotton, stretchy baby carrier. It is ergonomically designed to disperse the weight of your baby across your entire back and shoulders, reducing the fatigue sometimes associated with baby carrying. Moby Wraps come as generously-sized single pieces of fabric that wrap around your body, without buckles or fasteners, and are one size fits all, for the wearer and for babies (can be used from birth, even with premature babies, up to 35 lbs).

I was sent a Moby Wrap in navy to review. I was pleased with the substantial coverage, which not only allows for discreet nursing, but keeps little man warm. The soft fabric of the Moby Wraps is non-irritating and very comfortable, which is great since I use it for hours a day. Moby Wraps also allow me to keep my hands free, to clean a bit, caress little man, or even just sit and read a book without jostling my son awake everytime I need to turn a page.

A great benefit of Moby Wraps is that they promote "skin to skin" contact, encouraging both bonding between a newborn and mother, and milk production. I'm a big proponent of both breast-feeding and baby-carrying, so this is terrific. Skin to skin contact, in which a baby is wearing only a diaper and the mother is bare-chested, is very condusive to establishing a good nursing relationship, encourages the baby to sleep longer and gain more weight, and reduces stress levels for both mom and baby. The mother's chest is the baby's natural environment and is the healthiest place for a baby to be, both physically and emotionally, even offering a sort of climate control for babies through a biofeedback mechanism (mom's skin will warm up a cold baby, for example). Fathers who practice skin to skin contact with their child also feel a much stronger bond than fathers who bottle-feed baby alone. Mothers with low milk supply or who have babies that have difficulty gaining weight can use Moby Wraps to practice skin to skin contact for three hours a day, possibly helping to resolve these issues.

Wonderful Benefits of Baby Carrying:

♥ Wearing your baby close to you allows you to easily reach, caress, and talk to your baby,
♥ Being physically close to a parent and being touched often gives a baby a greaters sense of well-being, and higher levels of self-esteem later in life,
♥ A mother and father feel more bonded to a baby that is close to them for at least three hours a day,
♥ Your baby is safe- Moby Wraps are safe and secure, and your baby is always within reach,
♥ Baby wearing allows for easy, discreet nursing,
♥ You are able to carry your child and keep your hands free for errands, shopping for groceries, etc.,
♥ Your baby is unable to run off if you are distracted for a moment,
♥ Your baby can fall asleep if he wants to, and you don't have to put him into a stroller or seat, or even tote one around as you go about your day,
♥ Studies show babies that are carried sleep better,
♥ Studies show that babies that are held and touched often have stronger immune systems and develop higher IQ's.

  7. Just showed the husband the pic of the black moby and he said "yeah, I'd wear that". Sweet! Nothing cuter than a daddy with a baby in a carrier...
