Newlyweds and a Beautiful Prayer for Couples

I've been married over four months now, maybe the four best months of my life. I am married to a man I love, respect, and greatly admire. He is my hero! My whole life changed after we got married, in many different ways. I now get up more than two hours earlier every day to make him breakfast and see him off to work. I have to remember to pack him a lunch every evening to take to work the next day, and to pick up his shirts from the dry cleaners. I no longer answer for social engagements after consulting my planner...I ask him also before answering. I can never make fish for dinner (he is allergic), and I have to use an extra blanket at night, because he likes to sleep with the air conditioning on...and I've never been happier.

He takes care of me, he plans nice evenings for us together, he enjoys being with me, he compliments me, he gives me massages, he kills spiders for me, he protects me, he gets mad when someone raises their voice at me, he carries heavy things for me, he takes out the garbage, he pays the bills, he makes me laugh....I feel very lucky to have found such a wonderful man.

Someone once sent me a prayer, for newlyweds I was told, but I expect anyone married will appreciate it. Here it is:

Lord Jesus, Grant that I and my spouse may have a true and understanding love for each other. Grant that we may both be filled with faith and trust. Give us the grace to live with each other in peace and harmony. May we always bear one another's weaknesses and grow from each other's strengths. Help us to forgive one another's failings and grant us patience, kindness, cheerfulness and the spirit of placing the well-being of one another ahead of self.

May the love that brought us together grow and mature with each passing year. Bring us both ever closer to You through our love for each other. Let our love grow to perfection.

Amen.

Our photographer has recently provided us with our thank you cards, and I've spent four solid nights writing over one hundred cards. I still have a few more to do, but have over 80% done. I ordered cards with no pre-printed message, so that I could write a special message to each guest. I'm so grateful for the kindnesses of each, that I feel they deserve more than a pre-printed note (if my wrist cramps a bit after so much writing, I remind myself of their warm wishes and generosity).

Our next project together is selecting our photos for enlargements and for our photo albums.
