If you're anything like me, you don't exactly enjoy cleaning your kitchen or bathroom floors. I always did it the old-fashioned way (like my mom does),
on my hands and knees with a wet rag. I've tried different mops and cleaning systems, but they were too messy and annoying to store. The price of expensive, drippy replacement wipes added up quickly also, and those wipes were always rather flimsy and needed to be replaced often in one cleaning session. For this reason, I was happy to be contacted about the Spin & Go Mop (but still a little leery).
The Spin & Go Mop is fabulous. If you have tiles, hardwood floors, or any other non-carpet surface, it cleans well with its micro-fiber mop head (those attract everything, wet or dry, like a magnet, so you can mop or dust with it). We have tile floors in the bathroom and kitchen, which is where I tried it out. The fact that I can stand while mopping and do the job quickly are also major pluses, since I'm already tired and pressed for time with a baby (as you can see from these photos, he is always underfoot :) He wants to see and be part of everything). Other great features of the Spin & Go? The handle can bend up to 90 degrees to reach under hard to reach areas, be taken apart to store in small areas, and the mop head is the perfect size to be manageable. Most mops have huge heads that don't allow for accurate cleaning and just drip water everywhere (which is why I gave up on them long ago). The mop head is also easy to pop on and off when you want to change or remove it, yet stays securely on while cleaning.
My main concerns when reviewing the Spin & Go Mop were 1. will water drip out from the sides of the bucket around the pedal, and 2. does it really dry the mop up enough to store away right after use? For the first question, I filled the bucket up with water and examined the bucket and pedal. The pedal is not in any way part of the inside of the bucket. A metal rod attaches from the pedal to the spinner, and around it it is air-tight- water does not get out. There were no worries about water dripping anywhere. I'm actually really impressed with how neat the Spin & Go Mop is. Sometimes after cleaning a floor, you have to wipe down surfaces that dirty water splattered while cleaning, wasting a lot of time, and this doesn't happen with the Spin & Go.
Regarding my second question- does the 360 degree rotating spinner really dry the mop?- it really does. The spinner works like a salad spinner- it whisks away all the water into the bucket. You have to make sure you have the mop fully in the spinner, and none of the water splatters anywhere but inside the bucket (as you can see in the photo, the spin-off hits a level well below the bucket rim, so no splatters, and you can see how much water was removed from the soaked mop head by the spinner).
The Spin & Go Mop is terrific if you don't want to spend a lot of time cleaning, ringing out a mop, attaching wipes to a cleaning device, don't have space to store wet products to air dry out, etc. For more information, view the site of the Spin & Go Mop- those videos and photos are accurate. I tought it was funny that a woman in a cocktail dress was advertising the mop, but then I realized you probably could use it in a cocktail dress without getting it wet or dirty, because it's so user friendly. I was trying to think of ways to improve the Spin & Go, because I like to give feedback to the companies I work with if I can, and I couldn't think of anything. I even like the color.

ReplyDeleteI'm dying to win this! :-) I felt the same way as you do about mops. Currently, I just switched to a sponge mop because I got tired of waiting for the floors to dry after mopping.

ReplyDeleteOh dear Lord, I hate cleaning my floors. The only room with carpet is my bedroom so we have to clean with something wet on all the others. I actually get on my hands and knees and use baby wipes. Not even kidding here. It just works better. I have thrown away a swiffer and pledge ones and the lysol one and quit trying any more. I would love to win this.

Currently we sweep, and I have a steam mop, but the time it takes to get it out and get it set up, means that I do not use it that often. This would be perfect and so much easier!

ReplyDeleteWe have tried it all... haven't found the "magic mop" yet. Right now we are back to your traditional sponge-bottom mop. We keep investing money into new mops and they just don't do the trick. We have only wood floors (no carpets) so a GREAT mop is really important in our house.
