"Bottles of Joy" Review and Giveaway- Baby Bliss Celebration Day 9- Closed

Glass baby bottles are a terrific way to go for bottle feeding, because they are inert and lead-free, and have none of the concerns connected to using plastic. Plastic bottles are now being made without BPA, but who knows what will be the next thing found in plastics to be harmful (and leaching into what your baby drinks).

The two bottles sent to me to try out were a 9 oz glass Wee Go bottle by Lifefactory, and a 5 oz Born Free glass bottle. Wee Go bottles are attractive, sturdy, and come in a variety of colors for their protective silicone sleeves (pictured above), and despite being glass they are pretty light-weight. The silicone sleeves do not transfer heat, help baby grip the bottle well (you don't want a glass bottle slipping), and also provide some protection against cracking (the silicone covers the edges of the bottle that are most likely to hit surfaces). The nipples are also non-toxic silicone, and everything is both dishwasher safe and able to be boiled safely when sterilizing for first time use. Wee Go bottles usually retail for about $14.49 for the 9 oz size, and $12.49 for the 4 oz size. The variety of colors and the texture of the silicone are great for sensory experiences for baby (I've already gotten a few of the colors, because I just love the rainbow effect).
The second style of bottle is the Born Free glass bottle, which have some very unique features that make them very popular. First, they are somewhat contoured (so that baby can grip them easier), and second, they have an innovative air vent that helps reduce the risk of colic, so you have a happier, fuss-free baby. Born Free glass bottles are $9.99 for the 5 oz or 9 oz size, and an optional silicone sleeve is sold separately (but you'll likely find you don't need it because of the contouring of the bottle). Born Free also offers starter kits with multiple bottles and nipples for different stages (a great baby shower gift idea- very useful for a new mom), and BPA-free plastic bottles (but I prefer glass bottles, so I'd probably go with their popular, affordable glass bottles).
