"Make Ahead Meals for Busy Moms" Cookbook- Review and Giveaway- CLOSED

Cookbook for Busy Moms
Jane Doiron, like most women, is a busy woman. She is a mom of two boys, a teacher, and more, and while she loves to cook, often found little time to put together the healthy, wholesome meals that her family deserved. Thus began Make-Ahead Meals, the cookbook for busy moms who want to make nutritious, delicious meals for their family, but just don't have a lot of time in the evenings.

Make-Ahead Meals for Busy Moms is a great cookbook filled with 140 mouth-watering recipes that can either be frozen ahead, cooked ahead of time and reheated, or assembled ahead of time...and not when you have to pick up your kids from school, drop off the dry-cleaning, drop your kids off at their lessons, walk the dog, welcome your husband home, pick the kids up again and help them with their homework--- well, you get the picture; the typical evening of a typical mom :) Make-Ahead meals will give you breathing space during those jam-packed evenings without resorting to take-out, fast foods, or frozen dinners.

My husband's birthday was last week, so I tried out some of the recipes for a special birthday dinner. We had the lasagna, the chicken and spinach tortellini soup, and the chocolate torte (which can be made the day before and refrigerated until served) for dessert, for a special birthday dinner. We both absolutely love it! I also tried to make two make-ahead meals when I first received this book to have at a later time, in order to try them out as this book intended. I tried the marinated steak, which not only tastes heavenly, but can be frozen for up to three months and only takes eight minutes to cook after thawed. It is just fabulous to be able to just take out a frozen (healthy, homemade!) meal from your freezer, leave it in the fridge to thaw overnight, and have it the next day, tasting absolutely delicious. I also tried the honey mustard chicken fingers, which was incredibly easy to make and very tasty. The recipes are simple yet taste absolutely yummy.

Anyone can use this great cookbook, not just busy moms. If you are having a dinner party and are overwhelmed at the thought of making lots of dishes the day of and before the party, you can use some of these recipes to make meals in advance, and just thaw them the day before the party and reheat it the day of. If you know that you work lates Friday nights, you can have some Make-Ahead meals ready to go Friday nights when you come home late and tired. These are great for any woman who wants delicious, healthy, home-cooked meals ready on short notice, but has little time in the evenings to put it all together.

Jane also offers tips to make-ahead for the holidays, safe and efficient freezing, and must-have items for freezing. The range of yummy recipes in this book encompasses appetizers, breakfasts/brunch, main dishes, side dishes and soups, and desserts, including the following: crab melts, banana bread, make-ahead coffee cake, tiramisu, seafood quiche, baked manicotti, chicken piccata, stuffed beef tenderloin, steak fajitas, zucchini parmesan, Italian wedding soup, and much more.

Buy It! Make-Ahead Meals is available on Amazon and at Barnes and Nobles, or from Jane's web-site as an e-book download (for only $12.95- save $7!).

  5. THis is exactly what I need. My dh and I actually talked yesterday about cooking ahead and freezing it. I just have so little time after work to cook dinner for my little man and hate all the sodium in toddler meals.

  6. I would love to win because I'm home with my 2 year old twins and 9 month old nephew all day. By the time I get everyone down for a nap, the LAST thing I feel like doing is cooking. I would much rather cook in the evenings when the kids are in bed - or better yet, on the weekends.

  41. I would LOVE to win the cookbook for my son and daughter-in-law. They have two little girls, one just started kindergarten and the three year old attends the pre-school her parents own. My son works full time for a computer software company in one city, lives in another city and commutes. My daughter-in-law is the Director of a pre-school that is in a different city than she lives and picks her daughter up from kindergarten at noon, then back to the pre-school. They are so busy that they often order out. Both love to cook, so this cookbook sounds like the perfect solution for their busy family.

  66. Oh, I really like the sound of this! I am SO not good at making dinner happen, and if I don't have it planned out, we end up with something thrown together like grilled cheese or mac and chs. WAY too often. I feel so guilty, but I don't know HOW to cook really - never learned - and having two young kids underfoot makes it kind of hard to concentrate. I would love to be able to do most of the work ahead of time (when my husband is around to watch the kids!) and then have less steps to worry about at 5.

  69. I Love cookbooks! i collect them and cook by the recipe ALL the time, i like cooking, mixing up and coming up with new and exciting combinations all the time, my husband loves my food because it's always different and it would be wonderful to be able to have a copy of her book to try out new recipes and have fun with all kinds of new cooking ideas!

  85. I would love to win this. My husband is military and there are countless times when i make dinner only for him to say he cant make it on time or at all. It leaves a lot of uneaten food. I would love to be able to make some things that I can freeze and pop put when the time is right. Also, a big money saver!

  86. I would LOVE this book! It seems that the make-ahead meals are so much more convenient! With 2 children on swim team, karate & other activities that always seem to meet when I "should" be making dinner, this would be the perfect solution to allowing us to still have healthy, home-cooked meals!

  91. I would love this cookbook! I have an almost 3-year-old, a 15-mo-old, and I'm 4 months pregnant.
Making dinner is the longest, hardest part of the day! But I've found if I spend one day/week doing meal prep in the kitchen (for the rest of the week), dinner time is much much less stressful!
I have only a couple "make-ahead" recipes, and a few crockpot recipes, but most meals taste best fresh, so I'm always hesitant to "transform" a recipe into a "make-ahead" . . . but I would LOVE to have a book chock-full of recipes that would help me with the craziest time of the day!
Not to mention--what a great idea to make and freeze some meals before the baby comes!

  142. I'd love to have this book because American families are so busy lately! We're no exception and I love to freeze meals. I only have a few recipes that freeze well, so I'd love to add to that!

  159. I would love a copy of the cookbook. I am a mom of 3 small children and work out of the home full time. I have a hard time making meals every night after work. It would be nice to have some new recipes that I can make ahead and freeze!

  161. I NEED this book. I have 2 sweet growing boys almost 4 and 18 months. My husband and I are both in the Army and work 11-12 hour days and still try to have dinner as a family every night. To top it off, my husband is gone to Army training for the next 3 months so it's just me and the boys. Thanks for your consideration!
